Wintertime Wonder - Katie's is Delightful!
Katie's has winter (pub) menu and a summer (tourist season from April to winter) menu. This reflects the realities of winter in Qgunquit, Maine. I have eaten from both menus and choices abound in the summer and each choice is excellently prepared and served. Everyone knows about the lobster mac and cheese but I had quail one night and was not disappointed in the slightest. Recently, we ate from the more limited pub menu. Lobster Mac and cheese is there, of course. I had a duck breast special with arugula and chile spiced almonds that was perfect. We made a reservation through Open Table and I noted on our reservation request that this was our 39th anniversary. We were called in advance to warn us about the limited menu. Very thoughtful.

Don't Miss Katie's!
This is a "must" dine at restaurant! My husband and I went there to celebrate Valentine's Day and loved the food and atmosphere of this restaurant. The chef prepared delicious meals and can't wait to return to try out more entrees. Tomato bisque was divine, pepper crusted filet mignon melted in your mouth, and the pan seared salmon was excellent.

Anniversary treat
This restaurant was recommended to my wife and I for our anniversary. I have to say, the food was spectacular and the service was even better. Our waiter was also a chef so when we asked about menu items he described them in detail right down to the ingredients. During the meal, when he checked to see how things were, he asked if we tasted this in the food and that in the food. Did this flavor come out or did that?
It was not too pricey.
I could not recommend a better experience. It was wonderful in all aspects.

We ended up eating here two out of the three nights we were in Ogunquit. We had made reservations for the first night based on the reviews here and on another site. We had a great table, off in the corner, and nice and quiet. I had the scallops and my husband had salmon. Both were delicious. Contrary to what another reviewer posted, the sausage and beans that accompanied the scallops were perfectly done and were a great compliment to the scallops. For dessert, we had a blueberry tart that was also delicious.
After having a pretty bad meal at another place the next night, we decided to return to Katies for our last night in town. The host remembered us from our previous visit and gave us the same nice table. The food once again was delicious.
Prices for the food and wine were reasonable, the atmosphere was great, and the service was very friendly and competent. We’re hoping to visit Ogunquit again, and are looking forward to dinner at Katies.

My husband and I and two other couples had dinner at Katie's on Oct . 16 following a fabulous performance of Chicago at the Playhouse. My husband and I had dined here once before in Sept. 2009 and loved it then. I was eager to introduce my friends to this wonderful restaurant and Katie's pleased them all. Among the dishes we had, all of which received rave reviews were the crab cake appetizer, lobster ravioli, salmon entree, veal chop and steak. Everyone raved about their meal. No one was disappointed. Our waiter, Shane, was outstanding in every way. Pricey but worth it!!

We were in Ogunquit right after Labor day for four days. We had dinner in Katies twice. It was that good. Shane, our waiter was very attentive and explained the dishes we asked about. The have dishes on the menu called 'Small Plates' which was more than enough for me. The Braised free range statler chicken breast was wonderful. We shared the eggplant as a starter. Delicious. I'd go back again in a minute.

We just returned from dinner at Katie's at the recommendation of our hotel (The Falls at Ogunquit). Since it was somewhat late on a Tuesday night, there were few people dining. The building itself is beautiful and well kept. The dim lighting and candles on each table create a nice, romantic feel. Our waitress, Laurie, was very pleasant and attentive. We started with a mixed greens salad and the eggplant appetizer (based on previous reviews). The salad was reasonable in size and the eggplant lived to its expectations. A couple even recommended we try it since they heard us ordering as they were leaving. Even though it's panko encrusted it's extremely light leaving plenty of room for dinner. For the main course we tried the lobster macaroni and cheese as well as the lobster risotto. Both were mouth-watering and delicious. We finished by having dessert consisting of macaroons with chocolate sauce and Kahlua-flavored ice cream. We should mention that the bread and dipping sauce were excellent too. The blood orange martini is worth a try as well. Overall, we have only positive things to say about Katie's. ... We'd say it's worth every penny, just be sure to come hungry! (even then you may have leftovers) We will be back!

Just finished the leftovers of my lobster ravioli that I couldn't finish on Friday night. It was excellent. Katie's is a great place. We stopped there for a much needed cocktail after the long drive thru terrible traffic into Maine. Shane, a great waiter who doubled as the bartender that afternoon, made some great drinks and certainly made me feel "happy" and in the vacation spirit. We came back later for dinner and my husband and I had the crabcake appetizer and the lobster ravioli, both were very tasty and full of lobster chunks. The vanilla creme brulee was outstanding for dessert. We shared and I wished I would've gotten my own! Katie's is something you should try for dinner or just a drink or two (or three haha).

Finally, a restaurant that has a regular menu and "small plate" dinners as well. More than enough to satisfy and so well executed. We both had the artic char and it was beyond our expectations. The fish was moist, flavorful and melt in your mouth. Gazpacho soup was equally good- a more hearty portion. Excellent service, very personable wait staff! The best herb bread and light olive oil for dipping. Wide variety of wines by the glass. Reasonable pricing, too. All in all, a great experience.

My husband and I chose Katie's for our anniversary dinner based on reviews here and at Open table and we were really happy that we did! ...
Katie's provided the warmest of welcomes, a charming dining room, and really inspired food: risotto with ramps and mushrooms appetizer followed by scallops with fiddleheads, chanterelles and white wine broth (get a spoon because you'll want to eat it all). A nice creme brulee with berries for dessert.
The wine list was short but included some nice choices for the price (like our Four Vines Naked Chardonnay).
The service was outstanding. It was perfect food in a lovely environment in and atmosphere of caring. If you're lucky, Shane will be your waiter.
So come to Ogunquit, walk on the Marginal Way, ... have dinner at Katie's.

Give this place a try"
From San Luis Obispo, California
We had an excellent meal at Katie's Cafe on a recent visit to Ogunquit. It was very busy the night we were there and things were a little hectic. We were worried there might be problems with the food but our fears were unfounded since we all loved our food. To begin with the bread is excellent and baked in-house. I had the duck confit appetizer and it was excellent in taste and presentation. For my main course I had the lobster ravioli which was outstanding. Others in my party loved the lobster mac and cheese and the sliced steak and especially the lobster tail over corn salad appetizer. We would suggest this place to anyone visiting Ogunquit! - Posted August 18, 2009 Trip Advisor

"Just Worth Trying For It's Exceptional Service And Taste Of The Food!!”
We decided to give Katie's on Shore Road in beautiful Ogunquit, Maine a try for dinner last night. It was a great decision. We were not disapointed. Everything we had was so delicious and different right down to the cold water served pitchered with sliced cucumbers. "So Refreshing." After we ordered our meal, one of the restaurant owners named "Rich" visited our table and introduced himself. I though that was very nice. He was also happy to see that we were using the Seafood Dining Card for an added discount to our dinner, which his restaurant is one of the featured establishments to choose from. The food and service were both exceptional. My wife and I highly recommend you give them a try.I had the Talapia fish special which had tremendous flavor and recommend it. Thanks "RICH" for your hospitality, and please thank your exceptional staff as well. Steve and Sandra from Tewksbury, MA - Posted August 17, 2009 Trip Advisor

"Delicious and Original!"
From Portland
The water had a hint of cucumber- it was fabulous! And instead of the normal bread and butter, there was olive oil with delicious homemade bread! With friendly service and a great atmosphere, people of all ages are capable of coming here. It is also reasonably priced, which is good for the budget. I DEFIANTLY recommend this place to anyone! - Posted on August 7, 2009 Trip Advisor

“Our favorite place!”
From Portland
Katie's is great! The food is great- especially the clam chowder, which has bites of clam in every bite! Even the presentation of each dish is beautiful. The service is very friendly, and it is easy to strike up a conversation with all the employees. The owner often came around to talk with people dining, and even helped calm down loud kids in the restaurant. It is our family's favorite restaurant in Ogunquit; we go many times a trip! It's worth a visit, defiantly! - Posted on August 7, 2009 Trip Advisor

“A new favorite!”
"We've been to Katie's for dinner 3 times over the past few months. Each time, my husband and I have been so impressed with the food and the service. We really prefer to have several smaller courses and get sample a number of different dishes and Katie's menu allows us to do this. On our most recent visit, one of the standouts was the beet salad -- a new addition to the menu -- such a lovely dish. We've also taken advantage of their 4 for 44 special -- 4 courses for $22/pp -- $44/couple. That's less that the cost of just an entre at most places in the area, but the quality and inventiveness of the food is so much better! Katie's also has a small, well edited, and reasonably priced wine list. Service is always impeccable and the dining rooms are lovely." - Posted December 8, 2008 Trip Advisor

“GREAT!!!!!!!”
"We are a group of girls that have an annual shopping trip to Ogunquit. It was suggested to try Katie's and boy are we glad that we did. Our waiters name was David and he went over and above to make our dining experiance a total pleasure. After we were seated the owner Rich came to our table to explain the restaurants philosphy on the food portions.
Salad presentation was beautiful and very tasty. Sweet potatoe bisque was out of this world. Eggplant entree and Halibut entree was to die for!!!!! Dessert was YUMMY! If you go anytime soon ask for David's special martini.
This restaurant is well worth the visit and we loved that we left there feeling very satisfied not only with the food and service but the prices were also very reasonable. I would grade them an A+++++++++" - Posted November 4, 2008 on Trip Advisor

“A Gem in the heart of Ogunquit”
"We travel to Ogunquit every summer and always enjoy dining at the many wonderful restaurants in the area. This year we found a new spot that is a real gem and should be on the top of everyone's list. Katie's Cafe is in a great location on Shore Road and incorporates a warm atmosphere, great service and an amazing menu. First, we enjoyed two unique and delicious martini's, followed by an outstanding dinner and decadent dessert. Everything was cooked to perfection and the staff couldn't be nicer. We not only closed the place, but returned the following evening for a nightcap at the bar. Katie's is a terrific addition to the Ogunquit restaurant scene and shouldn't be missed." - Posted September 13, 2008 on Trip Advisor
